Residents told 'not to open packages' in Maryland neighborhood after explosion in house

Residents in a Carroll County, Maryland, neighborhood were told to not open any packages they may have gotten after at least one person was injured in an explosion Friday night.

Two people who live across the street from the house in the 3300 block of View Ridge Court in Manchester, Maryland, that sustained significant damage said police told them “a package was delivered to the house that exploded.”

Carroll County Sheriff's office told CBS 13 in Baltimore that a 28-year-old was taken to the hospital.

The Carroll County Times reported the man was in stable condition at a hospital and that authorities believe he was targeted. The paper reported that police don't believe there are other explosive devices in the neighborhood, and the package was not delived by the U.S. Postal Service.

Members of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the FBI are on the scene of an explosion at a house in Manchester, Md., Friday night.

Hazmat, bomb squad, Maryland State Police and fire marshal and ATF officers are among the law enforcement agencies on the scene, investigating the site of the incident that happened around 6 p.m. FBI and an additional fire marshal investigative unit arrived shortly after 9 p.m. An ATF truck is on the scene, and a K-9 unit has been sniffing various areas the neighborhood.

Shortly before 11 p.m., agents brought out shovels and big sifting trays. 

Law enforcement officials said they plan a news conference for Monday.
