DELTA TWP. — The Eaton County Sheriff's Department has released photos of a possible suspect in a shooting that left a 3-year-old in critical condition.

The toddler was shot about 8 p.m. Oct. 20 at Zap Zone, the laser tag and activity center in the 900 block of Mall Drive East.

The child's father handed her to Eaton County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Preston Dahlgren just moments after she was shot, spokesperson Jerri Nesbitt said. The sheriff's office released body camera footage of the toddler crying as Dahlgren took her outside.

She is recovering and has been released from the hospital.

Police believe the vehicle and man in the photos were involved in the shooting, Nesbitt said.

"We recognize the suspect pictures are not the best and are from behind," Nesbitt wrote in an emailed press release. "This indiscriminate shots being fired into a business designed for children makes this case even more awful. We are so glad that the quick actions of family, deputies and EMS were able to help this little girl make a full recovery. We are now hoping someone seeing this will act and come forward to help put this person responsible behind bars. Your actions could help save lives in the future."
