Farmer reports better than expected yield and grain quality

Southwestern Indiana farmer Mark Seib says he wrapped up soybean harvest two and a half weeks ago and is nearly finished with corn harvest.

“We’re going to be down to two days left to go on corn once we can get back in the field,” he says. “We have this hurricane coming up and we’re supposed to get two inches of rain.”

He tells Brownfield it has been a good harvest season.

“Yields have been good in both corn and soybeans, we’ve been really pleased with our production so far, and the quality of the grain has been really good,” he says.

Seib, who grows corn and soybeans in Posey County, says they’re looking at a 20-25% yield increase.
