EAST LANSING – A pole encouraging people to pray for peace has been returned to Sharp Park after it was reported stolen Thursday.

East Lansing police told the public no questions would be asked if the wooden marker was brought back unharmed. City officials confirmed the pole's safe return Wednesday morning.

St. Vincent Catholic Charities donated a peace pole to the city of East Lansing in 2014.

St. Vincent Catholic Charities donated the pole, which bears the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in multiple languages, to the city in 2014.

There are hundreds of thousands of peace poles displayed worldwide as part of a movement urging people to pray for peace.
