The family home in Falls River, Massachusetts, is where the 32-year-old woman reportedly hacked her father and stepmother to death with a hatchet in 1892. And though the incident inspired a
macabre limerick about her, Borden was actually
acquitted of the murders by an all-male jury following press coverage that doubted whether an upper-class lady was strong or degenerate enough to commit such a heinous crime.
