Fun and easy pumpkin decorated sugar cookies for fall and Halloween

Halloween is THIS WEEK you guys!!! And we alllllll know what that means.

It means that yet another "longest month in the history of ever" is finally over after only 3 days.

SERIOUSLY PEOPLE.

How does this keep happening? How is time simultaneously taking forever and skipping over entire weeks at the same time?!

I remember planning ahead and buying all the best Halloween candy at the beginning of October. I remember hiding it very expertly and secretly. And then.... my mind kind of goes blank with flashes of whining and working and I think there was some potato soup in there at some point and a little bit of snow and then -- BAM. I wake up this morning with 4 days left until Halloween and NO HALLOWEEN CANDY.

Okay, that was a lie.

There are a few smarties and a couple of suckers left in the box. But definitely none of the chocolate and caramel type candies.

I guess I'll have to make some cookies to bribe my children with instead. Thank goodness I discovered the easiest Halloween cookies EVER!!

Happy pumpkin sugar cookie decorating tutorial

How to make Happy Pumpkin decorated sugar cookies:

Step 1.

Thin some black icing to a watery consistency -- about a 3 second consistency. Use a food grade brush to paint it over the bottom right part of the cookie. It doesn't have to be neat....or even well done. Just be lazy and quick. Let it dry for about 15 minutes.

Step 2.

With a medium consistency orange icing, and a #3 tip, pipe a mouth over the top of the black icing. Outline the base of the pumpkin with the same icing.

Step 3.

Immediately fill in the space between the two outlines with the orange icing. Let it dry for an hour.

Step 4.

Pipe two large dots of medium consistency white icing for the eyes. Immediately add two more dots of black icing on top. Pipe two dots of pink icing for the cheeks and a cute little heart tongue. Use the black, or another dark color icing to add a stem.

I added some stitched lines with a black food color marker around some of the pumpkins. I couldn't decide if it was cute or weird. So I went halfsies. Imma let you make your own evaluation on this one.
