Harvest advances in South Dakota

The corn and soybean harvests in South Dakota continue to move quickly towards the finish.

79% of corn is harvested, compared to the five-year average of 37%, and 95% of soybeans, compared to 78% on average.

87% of South Dakota’s sorghum crop is harvested, compared to the usual rate of 46%, and 39% of sunflowers are harvested, compared to 36% on average.

80% of winter wheat has emerged, compared to 84% normally in late October, with 77% of the crop rated good to excellent.

20% of the state’s pastures are in good shape, with 43% rated fair and the remaining 37% called poor to very poor.
