LANSING — A 49-year-old man is in critical condition after a single-vehicle crash on the exit ramp of eastbound Interstate 96, police said.

The man left the roadway as he was exiting I-96 onto Cedar Street just before noon Friday, Lansing Public Information Director Robert Merritt said.

The 49-year-old driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital. The passenger is in stable condition, Merritt said.

Preliminary investigations indicate speed may have been a factor in the crash, Merritt said.

The area around the crash on I-96 and Cedar reopened at about 2 p.m. Friday.
