Corn for ethanol use down in August

Corn for ethanol use continues to sag as the industry deals with blending demand uncertainties caused by COVID-19. The August total of 411.080 million bushels was down 3% from July and 10% below the August 2019 figure, while distillers dried grain with solubles production was 1.806 million tons, also down 3% on the month and 10% on the year.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use estimate is out October 9th. In September, the department projected 2020/21 demand at 5.1 billion bushels, compared to 5.2 billion in August and 4.855 billion bushels for the 2019/20 marketing year, which ended August 31st.
