[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Oh my goodness! Although there are no rules on ‘who’ for fragrance any more, this, to my nose, is traditionally a man’s fragrance. It’s an absolute burst of citrus – intensely limey – that very quickly drops to a smoky, woody accord which is the sort of note combination that brings to mind Mr Darcy or even Mr Bond. It’s really that distinctive.
As it’s a concentrate, the last is amazing – I wore it yesterday and woke up at 4am and could still smell it. Reading through other reviews, I’ve seen it likened to Dior Homme (which I haven’t smelled), but what’s clear is that it’s a rather divisive scent. The lime is sharp and I’m not sure what’s making it smoky to my nose – at first I thought perhaps it was iris but that’s not listed. Thereafter, the scent is all about the woodiness although the lime never entirely leaves. It’s the sort of fragrance that gives your senses a (good) shock and I think you would recognise it anywhere, once tried.
There’s something a little old fashioned about it – in a good way. You are, at least, not trying to decipher a multi-layered mystery – it’s straightforward, you get that smack of lime and if you love deep, masculine scents, it’s one not to miss. I will hand mine on to Mr BBB – it’s far from my personal taste, other than the lime, and who knows, perhaps it’s all he needs for a second career in international spying. PS I am experimenting with a new light box and colour back-grounds rather than my usual garden background and if you are someone who can intertwine colour and scent, it smells more like the dark green background than the lighter packaging shade.

Now this sounds terrific! I must try to get my nose on it. You describe a very satisfying wear, from the bracing lime on the top, to the Iris, smoke and wood on the long drydown. I would happily wear a fragrance like this, even with the traditionally masculine references, but I might give my husband the odd squirt too. Especially if it will turn him into Daniel Craig, with a few years on him. Ha ha.
