DEWITT TWP. — A 16-year-old girl from St. Johns suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 127 Friday, police said.

The girl was driving south on U.S. 127 near Round Lake Road just after 11 a.m. Friday when she left the road and collided with several trees, DeWitt Township Police Chief Mike Gute said.

She was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, Gute said. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash.

No one else was in the teen's vehicle at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles were involved, Gute said.

The teen was taken to Sparrow Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
