How Many Real Estate Agents Are There? 2021 Update
We are approaching the final quarter of 2020 and speeding into the 2021 real estate market with 1.4 million Realtors in tow. Now Realtors are those state licensed real estate agents that are members of the National Association of Realtors, but I’ve never met one that isn’t a member. Realty companies typically make it a requirement for their agents to be Realtors and abide by NAR’s code of ethics.

Number of Real Estate Agents in Oregon
Similar to 2019, the Oregon Association of Realtors is reporting over 17,000 members on their website. This means there are 17,000 + real estate agents licensed to sell property in the state of Oregon.
Number of Real Estate Agents in Portland
The greater Portland metro area is served by two different Realtor associations, the Portland Metro Association of Realtors (PMAR) and the East Metro Association of Realtors (EMAR). In 2020 the PMAR website reports they have over 8,000 real estate agents and the EMAR website reports 1,059 agents. So the total amount of real estate agents serving the Portland metro area is over 9,000 or about 53% of the Realtor count in the state of Oregon.
