Garcia retires from Senior Center

The City of Alamogordo announced the retirement of Rosanne Garcia who has worked for the City since 1992.

Garcia began her career with the City as Kitchen Administrator, retiring in 2014 and returning in 2017 when she learned the former position was vacant.

"This is true dedication and loyalty to the Senior Center as well as to our seniors and her staff," a news release from the City read.

"When we closed our dining room doors in March due to COVID-19, Rosanne was adamant that we continue providing the same hot, nutritious, well-balanced meals and that would not change."

Garcia thanked the City and the Senior Center and its clients for years of joy.

"I was so privileged to have been given the second opportunity to work at a job I love in serving Alamogordo Senior Citizens. Even though I leave after working three years, I had done the same job for 20 years and seven month’s prior," Garcia said.

"I made friends with a magnificent group of people. Everyone gave me so much enjoyment and I hope I have done the same for them."

Veronica Ortega, community services director, thanked Garcia for her years of work and service.
