Police: Otsego man who stole and crashed vehicle arrested

A 32-year-old Otsego man was arrested Monday morning after stealing a vehicle and fleeing a collision, the Ingham County Sherrif's Office said in a release.

The man was arrested sometime after 8:49 a.m., when deputies were dispatched to the 3000 block of Okemos Road in Alaiedon Township regarding a stolen vehicle.

As deputies were speaking with the victim, the stolen vehicle drove past the scene before heading westbound on Interstate 96.

The suspect drove the vehicle onto US 127, where he collided with a vehicle driven by a 53-year-old Lansing woman, the sheriff's office said.

The suspect fled the vehicle on foot. Deputies found the suspect hiding in a pond near the Dunckel Road exit. He was arrested after a short standoff.

The woman was taken to a local hospital following the incident.
