EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Evansville Public Library's Oaklyn location closed Saturday and will remain closed for more than two weeks out of "an abundance of caution" due to COVID-19 concerns, EVPL said Saturday.

An Oaklyn staff member had prolonged exposure to a known COVID-19 positive individual, the library said in a news release. The library employee, who last worked Friday, is awaiting their own COVID test result.

The library will be closed for deep cleaning in accordance with new CDC guidelines and plans to reopen on Monday, Oct. 5.

"EVPL will continue to follow best practices put forth by health officials to ensure our facilities are safe for library users and staff," the statement said.
