[unpaid/samples/affiliate/ad] Yes, okay, I had to Google Jessica Alba to refresh my memory – there are a lot of celebrity launches in beauty world and if you don’t follow celebs it’s hard to get lost. Anyway, she’s an American actress and businesswoman, born in 1981 which by my calculation makes her 39. Age is relevant here because I can think of it as a collection for all women, not one that is following the trend for targeting Gen Z.
First impressions are good – I love the packaging and that little strip of peach neon – but I think if you’re going to call your brand Honest, everything around it needs more thought than usual. I can see where that is applied – careful ingredient choice for example and supporting charities, and am impressed with their commitment to reducing petroleum based plastics in packaging – it doesn’t seem to have compromised the look of the range at all.
The three products I’ve been sent to try are the Mascara/Lash Primer in one, the Tinted Lip Balm and the Creme Cheek Blush. I like all three – they’re bringing the right mood to how we are, post lockdown, getting used to make up again, by being less, not more, but being less in a good way!

Since we’ve been talking about creme blush, this is one to take a look at if you like a similar consistency to Pot Rouge from Bobbi Brown.
There are three shades in this product and they’re all the kind of fresh shade that I like that uplift the complexion, whether you’re wearing a base or not. This is Peony Pink which to my eye has a bit of peach to it and it’s an instant face brightener. I like the Tinted Lip Balm too – it gives a nice, gentle colour as well as lip softness and a barrier to stop moisture depleting. Mine is in Summer Melon and is a wash of pink that’s not glossy – it gives a gentle sheen.
The mascara has the type of brush I love – it delivers nicely separated lashes that are coated but not saturated. I didn’t find the primer very exciting – it required a lot of re-dipping to load the brush and it’s expensive for what it is at £19. In fact, all the price points are higher than I thought they’d be, especially the skin care. The blush is £16 and the balm is £10 and if you are dipping into this brand, I’d start with the balm because it was my favourite thing – a very easy and comfortable wear.
