[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] After testing several very lightweight coverage products, it IS a bit of a shock to get back to something fuller in weight. Despite the fact that this is a sheer coverage it’s still very much a move on from the tints that I’ve become used to. However, a quick glance down my local high street tells me that foundation is still very much a beauty player so this newbie from Illamasqua is for you if like a sheer/medium with a moderately dewy finish.

Illamasqua Beyond Foundation

If there is one thing to celebrate, it’s that matte foundations seems to be slowly disappearing – the new interest in health and using less make up has changed everything, coverage wise so the timing of this new launch is spot on for those who are venturing back to more make up but without the desire to look masked (and I don’t mean those masks!).

Illamasqua Beyond Foundation

As you can see, it’s not a runny, fluid consistency and I found that it needs buffing in well – the finish isn’t glowy as such, it’s more subtle than that and I think I’d describe it as a natural finish rather than overly dewy. The shade (I picked it myself so I can’t complain) isn’t quite right for me (it’s LN2) at the moment but once my tone loses its warmth, it will be and I’m quite looking forward to that polo neck, mascara, skin-finished look. It’s £33 HERE. There are 22 shades and the formula is boosted with Vitamin E and Hyaluronic.

Illamasqua Sheer Veil Lipstick

I also took the opportunity to try out the Illamasqua Sheer Veil Lipsticks. They’re the mid point between a tinted balm and a light coverage lipstick – I don’t know if there is an actual beauty word for that precise point! Anyway, if, like foundation, it’s taking a bit of getting used to, getting back to fuller colours, these are a good mid-point.

Illamasqua Sheer Veil Lipstick

As you can see in the swatch, there’s some sheen to them, although strangely, it looked less on my lips than it does on my arm. The shades are Sherbet (coral) and Passion (pink). They’re £20 HERE and in several shades. Non-affiliate link is HERE.
