PeoplesBank Park in York will be turned into a Smash Bash zone on Sept. 13.

So tired of 2020 that you would like to take out your frustration on inanimate objects?

The York Revolution has a way you can do that without having to replace your household items.

They are calling it “Smash Bash,” a “communal therapy session that will empower the York area to take out its collective frustration on delightfully breakable objects of all kinds.”

And it will be COVID-19 safe.

The Revs are partnering with Re-Source York to create five rooms on the field of PeoplesBank Park. And from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 13, people will be able to smash household items ranging from small appliances to doors, toilets and more.

“Sometimes, you just got to let it out,” Revolution General Manager John Gibson said. “With everything our community has gone through this year, we thought York could use a safe place to vent the frustration we’re all feeling. The pandemic can postpone lots of things in our lives, but it can’t keep us from finding creative and fun ways of coping together.”

Re-Source York, a nonprofit home improvement and home furnishings resale store, will fill the rooms with dinged and damaged items that aren’t suitable for resale.

“This is a perfect match for us,” ReSource York Executive Director Corey Wolfe said. “Even those items donated to us that may never sell are now going to help generate some of the much-needed funds the community depends on, and I can’t think of a more fun or appropriate way to raise those funds in these crazy times.”

Participant tickets are $20 each. Family and friends can watch for $5 each. They can be purchased at www.yorkrevolution.com/smashbash.

Beer fans can sample craft beer from Sign of the Horse Brewery and then smash their glass after the tasting.

Proceeds will benefit Re-Source York and Community Progress Council, the Revs’ 2020 nonprofit sponsor. The council works to empower low- to moderate-income families and individuals to reach financial stability.

Participants will have to wear closed-toe shoes, pants and jackets in the Smash Rooms. All attendees will be required to wear face masks and practice social distancing.

Food trucks will be on hand, and the ballpark’s concession stands will be open.
