York teen arrested in June fatal shooting of 19-year-old Michael Quinones III

Police say Roddrick Battle and another teen gunned the man down as they robbed him of cash and a cellphone.

A teen wanted in the fatal shooting of Michael Quinones III was arrested Friday by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force.

York City Police say Roddrick Battle, 19, of York shot Quinones on June 23 in the 500 block of West Princess Street. The task force was asked to apprehend him after a warrant was issued on charges of homicide, robbery and illegally possessing a firearm.

Task force members arrested Battle without incident at a residence in the 800 block of Wallace Street. He was turned over to the York County Sheriff’s Office Central Booking Unit for processing.

A juvenile was arrested shortly after the shooting, which happened just after 8 p.m. on June 23, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Quinones, also 19, was found dead in the back yard of his home with a gunshot wound to the head.

Shell casings from .40- and .380-caliber guns were found near his body, according to police and the York County Coroner, who said he died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say Battle and a co-conspirator shot and killed Quinones during a robbery of a cellphone and money.
