Milwaukee bus service around Wisconsin Center to see detours, delays during Democratic National Convention

Milwaukee County buses will experience delays and detours next week during the Democratic National Convention, despite the event's much smaller footprint.

Routes 12, 14, 19, 30, 31, 57, 80, BlueLine and GoldLine will be affected and temporary bus stop signs will be posted, according to the Milwaukee County Transit System. 

Demonstrations may also lead to additional detours and delays. 

Delays are expected from 6 p.m. Saturday through midday Aug. 21. Updates on detours and service changes can be found at http://RideMCTS.com/alerts. 

Route changes are:

• Route 14 (Humboldt-16th-Forest Home), Route 30 (UWM-Sherman Boulevard), the GoldLine (UWM-Wisconsin Avenue-Blue Mound Road) and the BlueLine (National Avenue-Fond du Lac Avenue) will detour on State Street between Water Street and 10th/11th Streets.

• Route 12 (12th-Teutonia) and Route 31 (12th-Highland) will keep 12th Street stops and stops near the 5th Street and St. Paul Avenue Intermodal Station. Bus stops on Wisconsin Avenue between 10th Street and 6th Street will be suspended.

• There will be minor impacts on Route 57 (Water-Walnut), where stops on Michigan Street will be temporarily suspended. Service to the Intermodal Station at 5th Street and St. Paul Avenue will continue.

• There will be a detour of Route 19 (3rd Street/King Drive) on Water Street between the Third Ward and Juneau Avenue. Passengers will still be able to access transfer connections with east-west routes.

• Route 80 (6th Street) will detour on 12th Street between Wisconsin Avenue and Highland Avenue. Passengers will still be able to access transfer connections with east-west routes.
