Hazlett returns to Indiana and accepts position at Purdue

Anne Hazlett, who recently served as senior advisor for rural affairs at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, has been named senior director of government relations and public affairs at Purdue University.

The Indiana native will represent Purdue before the Indiana General Assembly, governor’s office, elected officials, Indiana Commission for Higher Education, and Indiana State Board of Education. She will help develop public policy as it relates to government issues affecting the university.

Hazlett begins her new role August 24.

Purdue President Mitch Daniels says he is excited to have her advocate for Purdue in its partnership with government and related stakeholders.

Her prior experience includes serving as chief counsel on the Senate Agriculture Committee and director of agriculture for Indiana. She was legal counsel to the US House and Senate Ag committees during the development of three farm bills and she also served as assistant to the secretary for rural development at the USDA.
