Man charged in connection with early morning shooting

The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office filed charges against a 27-year-old man in connection with a shooting that took place early Tuesday morning.

DeAaron Lamont Williams, of Lansing, was charged with assault with intent to murder, carrying a concealed weapon and three other firearm offenses.

The charges stem from a shooting that was reported around 12:01 a.m. near Baker Street and Lyons Avenue.

A 47-year-old man suffered wounds to his face and arm and was in critical but stable condition as of Wednesday.

Williams was arrested without incident on Tuesday afternoon.

"Officers were able to determine the victim and the suspect were in the Baker St. and Lyons Ave area and had a verbal argument that led to the suspect shooting the victim," Lansing Police Information Director Robert Merritt wrote in an email Wednesday.

Williams is due in District 54A District Court on Aug. 20 for a probable cause conference.
