SD crops well ahead of last year except sorghum

Sixty-eight percent of South Dakota’s corn crop was rated good, as of Sunday, with 70% of soybeans rated good. Both are down slightly from last week. Fifteen percent of each crop was rated excellent.

Corn silking reached 95% complete and soybeans blooming reached 92%, both well ahead of last year.

Winter wheat harvest, at 95% is way ahead of last year and above the average.

Spring wheat harvest was nearly 60% complete. Oat harvest was 83%, both well ahead of last year.

Sixty-percent of sorghum was headed, ahead of last year but behind the average.
