Arkansas farmers begin corn harvest

Corn harvest is underway in Arkansas.  One percent of the crop has been harvested, with 18 percent of the crop mature and 79 percent dented. 

Sixty-nine percent of the rice crop is rated good to excellent and 72 percent is headed, and 2 percent is mature.  Eighty-seven percent of the cotton crop is rated good to excellent, 98 percent is setting bolls, and 5 percent is opening.

Soybeans are rated 66 percent good to excellent with 96 percent blooming and 86 percent setting pods.

Ninety-four percent of peanuts are rated good to excellent with 98 percent pegging. 

Alfalfa is rated 44 percent good to excellent with 79 percent of the second cutting completed.  Vegetables are rated 76 percent good to excellent

Forty-three percent of Topsoil and 47 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
