Authorities have identified the two victims who died in a motorcycle crash in northern Sioux Falls on Sunday night.

Franklin Reed Griffith, 31, from Parker, was driving a 2017 Harley Davidson Softtail motorcycle westbound on 60th Street North around 9 p.m. when he crashed his motorcycle into a van turning left at the 60th Street North and Granite Lane intersection, said police spokesman Sam Clemens.

The driver of the van, 75-year-old Eldon Arnold Guericke, from Sioux Falls, was turning left onto 60th Street North at the time of the crash. Griffith's motorcycle struck the driver side door.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Griffith was not wearing a helmet, Clemens said. It is unknown if Guericke was wearing a seat belt.

Police are still investigating the crash. Witnesses said that Griffith was speeding at the time of the crash, Clemens said. There aren't any traffic lights at the intersection, so police plan to review nearby business surveillance cameras, he said.

The department also used its unmanned aircraft system to assist with aerial photography of the incident.
