A former front gate attendant for San Buenaventura State Beach pleaded guilty to embezzling thousands of dollars in entrance fees this week, according to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Kevin Jacob Enns, 45, of Ventura, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of felony embezzlement of public funds. Enns was an employee for the California Department of Parks and Recreation for 20 years, part of which was spent collecting entrance fees at the state beach in Ventura, officials said.

From June 8, 2019, to July 6, 2019, Enns pocketed a portion of the cash he received for park entrance fees. The amount of funds Enns is believed to have taken amounts to approximately $2,690.
