Lincoln County positive COVID-19 cases on the rise

Lincoln County Medical Center said it is treating two patients infected with COVID-19 in its Intensive Care Unit, while two more were treated on the medical surgery floor.

LCMC admitted four positive COVID-19 patients since the county first saw an increase in the number of those infected with coronavirus beginning in mid-July.

By Aug. 5, LCMC had discharged 10 patients. The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) reported 117 positive cases for Lincoln County on Aug. 6, with seven new cases reported in a two-day span.

"As we have now successfully recovered 10 patients that required hospitalization with COVID-19, we celebrate all the work and care that our staff provides towards this issue. We continue to learn and adapt to this new environment," said LCMC Chief Hospital Executive Todd Oberheu.

Positive cases reported by the New Mexico Department of Health in Lincoln County were 50.51 percent males, and 49.49 percent females, which changed from the previously reported 51.46 percent males, and 48.54 percent females, on Aug. 3.

The largest amount of cases were among those 50 to 59 years of age, with 24 cases. Seventeen cases were reported among those in their 20s, and 17 cases among those in their 30s.
