Landmark, Countryside Cooperatives move forward with merger

Two Wisconsin cooperatives are moving forward with plans to merge.  Landmark Services Cooperative based in Cottage Grove and Durand-based Countryside Cooperative plan to complete the merger on March 1st of next year, pending a future vote by the members of both cooperatives.

In a statement, the boards say they want to identify up to five million dollars in savings through combined efficiency and procurement opportunities, safeguard membership equities, increase sales, and lower operational costs.

The two boards of directors unanimously selected Landmark CEO Jim Dell as the CEO of the new cooperative.

Both cooperatives have a long history of mergers, with Landmark serving southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and Eastern Iowa and Countryside serving west-central Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota farmers.
