The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) announced the third COVID-19 death in Eddy County.

In a Tuesday press release, DOH said a woman in her 60s was one of seven new deaths reported in New Mexico. The woman's name was not released to the media.

The release said the woman was hospitalized because of the disease, and had underlying conditions.

“This patient did not die while in our care, so I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for us to provide any additional information,” said Melissa Suggs, Carlsbad Medical Center spokesperson.
