Water rescue ends sadly: Teenager's body pulled from Lake Marburg in Codorus State Park

Update: The victim's name has been released by the coroner's office. 

A teenager died Sunday night at Codorus State Park after an afternoon of swimming with family in Lake Marburg, according to the York County Coroner's office. 

The male was identified as 17-year-old Junior Molina of Baltimore, according to the coroner's news release. 

Molina's body was pulled from the water of Lake Marburg, near the area of  Park Service Boat House on Dubs Church Road, around 7:40 p.m. after a multiple-agency boat and helicopter search.

Divers and boat crews had been searching the lake during daylight hours since the teenager disappeared in the afternoon. Emergency crews first responded to the lake after he was reported going into the water near Dubs Church Road just after 3:50 p.m. and never resurfacing.

The teenager was reportedly underwater for 20 minutes before divers and boat crews were called in to search the area and it took divers on scene nearly four hours to recover the body.

No autopsy will be performed as the cause of death has been listed as an accidental drowning.

Codorus State Park Police is investigating the incident. 

Rescue attempts were initiated by Pleasant Hill Fire Department, assisted by Codorus Park Rangers, Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Dive Team, and the Carroll County Dive Team from Gamber Fire Rescue.
