Coroner called as crews search for teenager's body in Lake Marburg at Codorus State Park

Firefighters are working to recover a body from Lake Marburg at Codorus State Park in Manheim Township, after dispatchers were notified a teenager went missing at the lake Sunday. 

The coroner has also been called, according York County 911, but as of 7:30 p.m., a body has still not been found.

The teenager was reportedly underwater for 20 minutes before divers and boat crews were called in to search the area. 

Emergency crews responded to the lake after the victim was reported going into the water near Dubs Church Road just after 3:50 p.m. and never resurfacing. Divers are on scenecrews have still not discovered the body.

Emergency crews are working to search Lake Marburg with boats, divers, and a helicopter after a water rescue was reported at Codorus State Park.

On scene, crews on boats could be seen searching the cove where the victim was reportedly spotted going under, and a helicopter has also been called in for an aerial view as crews work to narrow down the search.

Rescuers are focusing their search on a cove off Marina Road behind St. Paul Dubs Union Church, not far from the main Marina of Codorus State Park.

Command reported to dispatch that this would be an extended incident, likely transitioning to a body recovery at this time and not a rescue as originally intended. 

Rescue attempts were initiated by Pleasant Hill Fire Department, assisted by Codorus Park Rangers, Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Dive Team, and the Carroll County Dive Team from Gamber Fire Rescue.
