5 people shot early Sunday outside apartment complex in south Lansing

LANSING – Three women and two men were shot outside an apartment complex in south Lansing early Sunday, police said.

Police found three women, ages 19, 21 and 26 at the apartment complex at 3:01 a.m., and later located two men, ages 23 and 30, police said in a news release. All suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and are in stable condition at a Lansing hospital.

Police said in the release they had no suspect information to release.

“This senseless act of violence will not be tolerated in our community and we will use all available assets, including our local, State and Federal partnerships, to hold those responsible accountable,” Lansing Police Chief Daryl Green said in the news release.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and by late Sunday had not released additional information.

Sunday morning police had much of the parking lot of Towne Square Apartments taped off and we're still investigating at the scene. Police used plastic markers to photograph dozens of shell casings in the parking lot.
