PP499 Color Challenge

Hello stampers!  It's Sunday, and I am the Paper Players hostess this week with a soft, subtle color challenge for you:

When I chose these colors, I must have had some project in mind, but when it came time to actually use them, I drew a blank!  I originally intended this card to be a masculine one, but it turned out to be kind of generic!  I was inspired by all the fun folds I saw in last week's gallery, so it does incorporate a different take on a normal top-fold card.  So here we go:

I started with stamping the large sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays in Seaside Spray and cutting it with a stitched rectangle die, then matting it with a scalloped die; the diecut wasn't quite large enough, so I actually cut two and pieced them together...you can see the seam at the top, but in the whole scheme of things, it's barely noticeable!  For the fold, I cut of half of the front at the top and down the middle, added a piece of Peony Garden DSP on which I stamped some leaves from Rooted in Nature.  I also stamped some leaves separately and diecut them out to embellishment my front panel.  So here's how the card looks as you open it:

I stamped the Buffalo Check background stamp in So Saffron, added another sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays set and another diecut leaf; the front panel covers up the inside sentiment panel.  Just another fun way to add interest to a card.

The final step before adhering everything was to add some Seaside Spray and silver baker's twine to the front panel!  I think the bow turned it into a non-masculine card, at least that's what threw it off for my in-house critic John!

Anyway, I think the final outcome is fine and hopefully someone will appreciate it on their birthday!  And since it does use a different sort of fold, I am entering this at Inspire.Create, as their challenge this is Fancy Folds:

I hope you like these colors and can find something fun to stamp with them!  Be sure to share it on the Paper Players blog and while you're there, check out what the DT created!  Have fun and thanks for popping by!

A little trip in the jeep with the doors off on a warm summer's night......

Final destination....ICE CREAM SHOP!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

I think is a rather lovely unisex birthday card LeAnne and I love the new fancy fold too! That big bold sentiment is really eye-catching; I think I may have to add it to my wish list. I love these colours this week and found them easier to create with than when Jaydee chose a similar palette a while ago; maybe I’m in some sort of groove with them now as I had a few ideas! Love that photo of Cassidy too!

I adore this card LeAnne, with the leaves, buffalo check and terrific sentiment that takes center stage. And then you show the fun fold and hidden sentiment underneath, and it becomes even more fabulous! I have to admit I couldn't decide how to use these colors initially but it ended up being a combo I loved!

LeAnne, this is such a gorgeous color palette! It challenged me because you know I am a bright color kind of girl. Your fun fold card is amazing! I love that fold and want to give it a try! The gingham is so pretty inside and out! I really like the gray leaves, too! Looks like a very fun jeep ride, too! Beautiful girls!

Oh my gosh...I LOVE this fold, LeAnne! I can't wait to give it a try. The stamped leaves add a touch of serenity. What a wonderful trio of colors you gave us to work with this week!

LeAnne, I love that you went with gender neutral and I love how you have used this stamp set. It's such a great set but I haven't used it anywhere near as much as I should. You have inspired me to get it out. Oh.. and I loved the colors from this challenge - and you always rock gingham!
hugs
