Iowa farmer takes advantage of market rally

Iowa farmer Jeff Frank says the recent market rally has been “a shot in the arm” for his marketing plan.

“It made me catch up on a few forward contracts that I was maybe a little lax on,” Frank says. “I’m about 40 percent forward contracted now, so that’s kind of where I wanted to be, and where a lot of analysts say we should be.”

Frank says they have also been moving some old-crop corn.

“We’re actually cleaning out some corn bins now. So we’re kind of making our final shot before the harvest comes, so we’ll have everything ready to go.”

Frank farms near Auburn in west-central Iowa.
