Arkansas crops: 79% cotton, 63% rice good to excellent

Another week of good crop development weather for Arkansas crops.

Sixty-three percent of the rice crop is rated good to excellent and 98 percent of the crop has emerged, and 1 percent is headed.

Soybeans are rated 68 percent good to excellent with 57 percent blooming.  Seventy-nine percent of the cotton crop is rated good to excellent, 85 percent is squaring, and 9 percent is setting bolls. 

Ninety-one percent of peanuts are rated good to excellent with 19 percent pegging.  Corn is rated 63 percent good to excellent with 76 percent of the crop silking, 20 percent in the dough stage, and 1 percent dented. 

Winter wheat harvest is nearing completion. 

Alfalfa is ranted 44 percent good to excellent with 17 percent of the second cutting completed.  Seventy-seven percent of Topsoil and 80 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
