William D. “Bill” McKee, 94, of Pleasant Hill, IL passed away Tuesday morning (6-30-20) at the Eastside Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield.
Bill was born December 18, 1925 in the bottoms near Pleasant Hill, a son of William B. and Mary Ilene Lewis McKee. He married Barbara Ellen Bader on January 6, 1951 in Pittsfield and she survives.
Bill was employed as an Ironworker for Union Local 46 in Springfield for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in both WW II and the Korean War.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara E. McKee, three children, Greg (Janet) McKee of rural Pleasant Hill, Charlotte (Larry) Hill of rural Pleasant Hill and Charles “Chip” (Joseph Philippi) McKee of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, three grandchildren, Barrett (Mary Ann) McKee, Brian (Marsha) Hill and Kiley (Mark) McGlauchlen, six great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, a sister, Estelene (Ron) Hayden of rural Pittsfield, three brothers, Lowell McKee of Pleasant Hill, Gene McKee of rural Nebo and Darrell McKee of New York and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Jessie Dolbeare, two brothers, Bob McKee and J.R. McKee and by three infant sisters and one infant brother.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Friday (7-3-20) at 3:00 p.m. at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill conducted by Pastor Don Hannel. There is no visitation, however, friends are invited to the graveside services while practicing COVID 19 safety precautions.
Memorials may be made to the Crescent Heights Cemetery Association or to the charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
