Dior Forever Summer Skin Review

[unpaid/samples/affiliate/ad] If you’ve well and truly got used to the feel of bare skin on your face (I have) the idea of full coverage is just, well, no. I’m not saying I’ll never go back because it’s easier to have no coverage during summer – in winter I honestly look like a zombie and much as I am now a fan of coverage free skin, I may not feel like that in December! Which is what makes the idea of a skin tint an attractive proposition.

Dior Forever Summer Skin & BronzerI love the texture of Summer Skin – it fits the brief of being light (I can’t even feel it on my face), giving warmth and evening out tone and it’s the nearest thing to bare skin that I’ve found so far. The immediate effect, I found, is lightly blurring although that wears off after time and it is a tint – so it’s at the merest end of coverage. The main thing you need to know is that it makes your tone deeper as you wear it – that’s really not clear from any of the on-line description (or the fact that it looks, as it comes out of the tube, like a regular foundation or tinted moisturiser) – I had to keep going back to the mirror to double check that I hadn’t imagined the more bronzed look! It makes it feel like a bit of a risky buy – perhaps why it’s ‘limited edition’ and not a permanent product – and particularly risky if you are very fair skinned. The obvious negatives are lack of SPF and lack of colours – as well as the fact you really don’t know how the ‘tint’ will turn out – with only one shade to assess (Fair), it’s also impossible to imagine how other shades might look after a while of wearing and the tint emerging.  It’s £37 HERE. 

This is the limited edition Dior Mineral Bronze – in Light Flame. The other option is Warm Flame – but again, is missing the deeper options.

For my skin tone, which is currently warm olive, this option is perfect in that it’s barely there – just enough to give that hint of sun without obviously looking like I’m wearing bronzer but if you’re very pale, I think it might be too pigmented. However, any deeper you’d need to for the Warm Flame option. It’s one you’d need to see in store (eventually) I think, unless you really know your Dior colours.
