June is Pride Month and this year is unlike any other. Citrix’s plans to participate in Raleigh, Dublin, and Ft. Lauderdale’s Pride celebrations changed when all events went virtual.

We had a jammed packed month planned with our Ft. Lauderdale office hosting two large external events: the Inaugural Business of the Americas Conference for Pride of the Americas and the National Diversity Council 2020 Florida LGBT-Allies Diversity Summit. Even with this unexpected shift from live events to virtual programming, the progress the LGBTQ+ community has made in recent years continues and Citrix is a place where our employees can bring their authentic self to work and feel they belong.

Congratulations to Costa Rica

In late May, just in time for Pride Month, Costa Rica became the first Central American country to legalize same-sex marriage. This is especially meaningful for Citrix because Costa Rica recently launched our newest Citrix Pride Alliance Chapter, and it is also home to the largest Citrix office in South and Central America.

The legalization of same-sex marriage will greatly impact not only Costa Rica, but all of Central and South America. In 1969, Costa Rica, along with twenty-four Central and South America countries signed the Pact of San José — defending and safeguarding all human rights. This pact guarantees the application of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) rulings and bounds the member countries, in which equal marriage isn’t legal, to legalize it by constitutional law. That means all 24 countries are bound to include marriage equality in their constitutions.

Even though we aren’t gathering in person at Citrix this year, we invite you to join us in celebration of Pride this month and support the rights of LGBTQ+ people in your communities. Click here to learn more about diversity and inclusion at Citrix.
