Missouri Department of Ag says proceed with dicamba, for now

The Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) and it’s director Chris Chinn have released a statement saying dicamba herbicide products are still registered for sale and use in Missouri and until it gets guidance from EPA on a recent court decision, that is the position it takes and will not take enforcement action.

The department says it realizes the “precarious position” the court’s decision to pull EPA registration for three dicamba products that puts farmers, ag retailers, and academia in.

“An overnight decision making this tool illegal is not something that should be done mid-growing season.”

While it has reached out for clarification from EPA, as of Friday afternoon, the Missouri Ag Department had not received guidance.

However, the interpretation from the University of Missouri’s Extension weed scientist, Dr. Kevin Bradley, is that farmers should not use those three dicamba products, as of June 3^rd, when the ruling was handed down. Bradley says he has been inundated with calls and is waiting for clarity from the EPA and MDA.
