Farmer says things are looking up after replanting

A southwestern Indiana farmer is replanting some corn after wrapping up planting both corn and soybeans on Monday.

Mark Seib says the reason for replanting wasn’t weather related…

“We had blackbirds that thinned our population way too much in the cover crop fields we had in corn so we went back in and replanted that, and we’re completely done with planting— hopefully,” he says

He says recent timely rains and warm temperatures are welcome.

“We received just a little bit under a half inch of nice, gentle rain on it as well so we’re feeling good about that,” he says. “Now we’re in the upper 80s, heat units are really jumping, and corn is jumping.”

Seib grows corn and soybeans in Posey County.
