Wisconsin to open direct payment applications June 15th

Wisconsin Ag Secretary Designee Randy Romanski tells Brownfield applications for the 50 million dollars in direct payments to farmers will start June 15th and be open for a two-week application window.

Romanski says the payments will be available to farmers making between $35,000 and five million dollars on line nine of their Schedule F tax form. Each farmer will be eligible for between $1,000 and $3,500 on a sliding scale.

Romanski says the applications will be handled online through the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

He tells Brownfield more information will be posted to the DATCP website soon and the Department of Revenue will process the applications.  Romanski emphasizes the application window will only be open for two weeks.
