Man injured in Lansing shooting, police searching for suspect

LANSING – A 19-year-old man is in critical condition after a shooting at a house in the 900 block of Johnson Avenue.

Police are still looking for a suspect in the shooting.

People in the area around Johnson Avenue, which runs between East Saginaw Avenue and Porter Street, should shelter in place while officers search for the suspect, Lansing Police Department Public Information Director Robert Merritt said. Police have not yet released a description of the suspect.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at 2:40 p.m. but did not find any victim at the scene. Police then learned a victim turned up at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The 19-year-old man is the only victim identified at this point, police said.

The shooting was not a random act and the suspect and victim knew each other, police said.
