Grassley predicts next coronavirus relief bill in July

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says the Senate will probably wait until after the July 4th recess to take up another coronavirus assistance package.

Grassley says before they act, senators need to assess how well the first CARES Act is working.

“It’s a very necessary assessment because it was done very hurriedly,” Grassley says. “Almost three trillion dollars borrowed to accomplish all these things, and not all of that money is out there yet.”

Grassley says senators also need to assess the pace of economic recovery. But he does expect the Senate to eventually pass another aid package “sometime in July”.

The House has already passed another coronavirus assistance bill called the HEROES Act.
