87% of Indiana corn, 76% of soybeans planted

Warm and mostly dry weather allowed corn and soybean plantings to progress in Indiana this week.

Eighty-seven percent of the state’s corn crop is planted, and 73 percent is emerged. Sixty-eight percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Seventy-six percent of soybeans are planted, and 58 percent is emerged. The crop is rated 69 percent good to excellent.

The USDA says winter wheat conditions improved slightly last week because of warmer weather and sufficient moisture levels. Hay cuttings were in full swing and livestock were reported to be in good condition.
