FSA releases more details on grain contracts eligible for CFAP

Farm Service Agency offices now have more information about grain contracts that are eligible for the USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program.

Illinois FSA Executive Director Bill Graff tells Brownfield he received a chart Friday morning that shows…

“Basically, basis contracts, basis fixed contracts, no price established, delayed price or deferred price contracts are going to be eligible for CFAP. They are going to be eligible to be counted into your inventory subject to price risk.”

He says 85-90% of the questions he has received from Illinois farmers have been about grain contract eligibility and this is good news for those grain producers.

“Those grain contracts, they all have a non-fixed future price and if the futures have went down, those contracts have, for lack of a better word, dropped in value.”

He says the national office is working to include further details in the 2CFAP notice.
