Arkansas crops: 85% rice and 72% cotton planted

The moderate to heavy precipitation that fell this past week didn’t completely halt Arkansas’ planting progress.  Ninety-eight percent of the corn crop has been planted with 92 percent of the crop emerged, and 67 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Eight-five percent of rice has been planted with 73 percent emerged, with 59 percent of the crop rated good to excellent.

Fifty-eight percent of soybeans have been planted, 43 percent emerged, and 70 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Seventy-two percent of cotton has been planted and 46 percent has emerged, and 81 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent

Seventy-six percent of peanuts have been planted and 52 percent emerged, and 93 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

Ninety-five percent of the winter wheat crop has headed, and 38 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.

Forty percent of the hay crop has had its first cutting and 52 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent. 

92 percent of Topsoil and 91 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
