A woman was trapped under a tractor for at least a half an hour as York County responders tried to rescue her Saturday evening.

It was shortly after 7:15 p.m., when Dover Township firefighters were told a farm tractor had rolled over someone's head at the bottom of a hill on the 5300 block of Harmony Grove Road, according to the department's Facebook post.

Once on scene, responders discovered that a mid-sized tractor’s tire was over top of a woman’s hip and leg area.

"Thankfully it was muddy as this minimized injury and the full weight of the tractor being felt by the patient," the Dover Township Fire Department wrote on Facebook. "Unfortunately this made extrication tricky."

Crews had to make multiple trips to carry equipment up and down the hill before the tractor was stabilized and could be lifted.

The woman was freed after about 30 minutes and was taken by helicopter to York Hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
