TOLEDO, Ohio — Weather highlights:
- Cool and dry weather returns on Wednesday
- Widespread frost/freeze likely Thursday morning
- Warm and wet weekend weather ahead
Dry weather will return overnight into Wednesday as a cooler northerly breeze develops.
Wednesday will bring dry and brisk weather with highs around 50 degrees and a mix of clouds and sunshine.
Cover up sensitive outdoor plants before bed Wednesday evening, because temperatures will plummet overnight. As clouds clear out, temperatures will quickly drop to the upper-20s to low-30s.
A widespread freeze is expected overnight into Thursday with temperatures plunging below 32 degrees in most areas. Spring freeze is fairly common, and our normal last freeze of the season occurs on April 26 with our normal last frost on May 8.
A freeze watch is in effect from midnight to 10 a.m. Thursday.
After a frosty morning, Thursday will feature bright sunshine and temperatures in the mid-50s.
Sunny spring weather will continue Friday as temperatures surge to the upper 60s. A southeast breeze will develop late Friday as cloud cover increases ahead of our next storm.
Spring showers will roll in Friday evening, growing more widespread overnight. This first wave of rain will taper off Saturday morning, giving way to a mild and breezy day with temperatures surging to the upper 70s.
Additional showers may develop late Saturday night into Sunday morning, but the specific hourly timing remains unclear.
Sunday morning will start off very mild with temperatures in the 60s for the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon. The afternoon will bring a summer-like feel with highs near 80 and a few spring showers or thunderstorms possible.
The long-range outlook into early May features a milder trend.
Areas of widespread frost, and possibly a hard freeze, are expected Thursday morning with lows in the upper 20s to near 30 degrees. It will be mostly sunny into the afternoon with highs in the upper 50s.
Temperatures will be back into the 60s on Friday. More scattered showers return by late day, but this wave of rain will usher in warmer weather.
Over the weekend, highs will climb well into the 70s and even close to 80 degrees.
A few passing showers are possible this weekend into early next week.
Mild weather is likely next week as we move into May.
