Weather alert: Flood watch issued for central Pa. as heavy rain expected

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for central Pennsylvania as heavy rain is expected on Thursday.

One and a half to three inches of rain is in the forecast, the weather service says.

A flood watch has been issued for central Pennsylvania as heavy rainfall is expected on Thursday.

Small streams and rivers are expected to see significant rises, and flooding is possible Thursday night into Friday, the agency says.

The watch is in place for the eastern half of the state.

The rain is expected to move in later Wednesday night and continue through Friday. Temperatures will be in the 60s.

The forecast calls for a chance of rain, mainly after 10 p.m., today.

Up to an inch of rain could fall on Thursday with thunderstorms possible after 3 p.m. During the overnight hours, storms could deliver another half to three-quarters of an inch, the forecast says.

Showers are expected to continue on Friday, but it will dry out for the weekend.

The forecast calls for party sunny skies with a high of 67 on Saturday and 73 on Sunday.
