Looking for a one-stop shop for answers to the most frequently asked questions about Isagenix products?

The Isagenix Research and Science team has compiled a list of some of the most commonly asked product questions throughout the years, and we’ve answered them here.

1. I’m having blood work soon. Do I need to stop using Isagenix products prior to my appointment?

It isn’t necessary to stop using Isagenix products prior to getting blood work done unless your healthcare provider asks you to. For many common blood tests, your doctor may instruct you to fast overnight or for eight hours before your appointment. Generally, this means no food, nutritional supplements, or beverages other than water for the period of time that you have been instructed to fast. Be certain to check with your doctor to find out if you should follow any special instructions.

2. I have a medical condition. Are Isagenix products appropriate for me?

If you have a medical condition that requires you to make adjustments to your diet or lifestyle, an individualized approach to nutrition is important to your well-being. Isagenix offers food and nutritional supplements, and these products are not intended to prevent, diagnose, or treat any medical condition. Isagenix products have helped many people reach their wellness goals. However, some people may need to adjust which products they use or how they use an Isagenix System to meet their individual needs. Working with your doctor can help you to make informed choices about your personal health.

3. I take a daily prescription medication. Will starting an Isagenix System cause a problem with my prescriptions?

What you eat and drink can affect the way that some medicines work, so it is important to speak with your doctor or pharmacist for information related to your specific health situation before making a significant change to your usual diet. Start the conversation by explaining that you would like to start a low-calorie healthy eating program that involves periodic fasting and incorporates nutritional supplements.

4. Should I use Isagenix products if I have diabetes?

For someone with diabetes, it’s a general recommendation that you consult with your doctor before significantly modifying you diet or making a lifestyle change such as starting an Isagenix System. This recommendation is important because many common treatments for diabetes are balanced according to your usual diet and activity habits. Isagenix products can be effective tools to help support diet and lifestyle goals but every person with diabetes has unique individual circumstances. Talking with your doctor can help you make informed choices specific to your situation.

5. Should I use Isagenix products if I have a thyroid condition?

If you have a thyroid condition, working with your doctor to successfully keep your thyroid levels within a healthy range is your first priority. With a doctor’s guidance and monitoring, you can also incorporate the nutritional support of Isagenix products into a healthy lifestyle.

6. Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use Isagenix Products?

It is important for pregnant or breastfeeding women to discuss nutrition with their doctors. While some types of nutritional products are generally not recommended for expecting or new mothers, there are many Isagenix products you may use while pregnant or breastfeeding. Here is a full list and an explanation of which products are safe for use during pregnancy or lactation.

7. I’m taking antibiotics. Is it OK for me to do a Cleanse Day?

It’s best to avoid Cleanse Days when you’re not feeling well. If you’re recovering from a recent injury or illness, your body needs both nutrients and energy to support the healing process. It’s a good idea to check with your doctor or pharmacist for any special instructions regarding your treatment and recovery. For example, you might be instructed to take your medications with food. Once you have completed your treatment and are feeling well again, you can return to your normal Cleanse Day schedule.

8. I need to avoid gluten. Which Isagenix products contain it?

Isagenix is a gluten-free company. All Isagenix foods and dietary supplements are free from gluten.

9. I am a vegetarian. How do I know which products are suitable for me?

Use the Allergen Table as a quick reference to identify which products are suitable for those who follow a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.

10. I have a food allergy. How do I know which of your products are safe for me?

For anyone with a food allergy, it’s important to read ingredient labels on both foods and dietary supplements. For a quick reference, you can find which products contain common food allergens in the Allergen Table and get more information about allergens on food labels here.

11. Can children or teenagers use Isagenix products?

Most Isagenix Products were designed for use by adults to support a healthy lifestyle or provide support for reaching a weight loss goal. However, some products are appropriate to share with the entire family. Find a complete list of suggested age recommendations for each product on the Allergen Table.

12. Why is there sugar in IsaLean Shakes?

Isagenix does not use artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners in any products, including IsaLean Shake and Whole Blend IsaLean Shake.

IsaLean Shake is sweetened with natural fructose in amounts equivalent to what is in half of a medium-sized apple. As a complete meal replacement, IsaLean Shakes must provide a sufficient amount of carbohydrate to support energy and provide balanced nutrition.

Whole Blend IsaLean Shake contains 1 gram of added sugar and is sweetened with molasses and stevia leaf extract. Whey-based varieties include an additional hint of honey for a lightly sweet experience.

13. What is the best way to track my weight loss progress?

There are many different markers of success that you may experience through your weight loss journey such as change in energy levels, improved quality of sleep, a change in the way your clothes feel, and a decrease in the number on the scale. Which of these markers of success you choose to focus on is a matter of preference and can depend on your goals. If you use a scale to track your progress, keep in mind that a variety of factors can impact weight that are unrelated to changes in body fat.

14. How much water should I be drinking each day?

Because everyone has unique hydration needs that vary depending on health, activity level, diet, and climate, there is no specific “one-size-fits-all” recommendation. Most healthy adults need between 2.7 liters (11 cups) and 3.7 liters (16 cups) of total water every day, which includes the water you receive from both foods and beverages.  Keep in mind that like any other nutrient, it is possible to drink too much water so it is important to determine how much water you need on Shake Days and Cleanse Days.

15. The scale won’t budge, what should I do?

There are few things more frustrating than seeing the changes on the scale slow down, or even stop all together. Weight loss is highly individual and can be influenced by many factors, but there are a few common reasons for stalled progress in your journey. Keep in mind that there are many changes happening inside your body that may not be immediately visible on the scale; however, there are strategies that may help you jump-start weight loss or break through a weight-loss plateau.

16. What can I have on a Cleanse Day?

An Isagenix Cleanse Day is a type of nutritionally supported fast. The goal of a Cleanse Day is to significantly limit calories while receiving nourishment from Cleanse for Life® and other Cleanse Day snack options. For best results it is recommended that you follow the guidelines for a Cleanse Day outlined in the System Guide. Isagenix provides a variety of Cleanse Day snack options, each specifically designed to support your Cleanse Day experience. These include Isagenix Snacks™, IsaDelight®, AMPED™ Hydrate, e+™, coffee, and  Whey Thins™ or Harvest Thins™.

17. Are Isagenix products considered organic or non-GMO?

The Isagenix no-compromise ingredient policy is extensive and thorough—set up to ensure that our products are made in accordance with the highest standards of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for dietary supplements and sourced from suppliers who meet our sustainable sourcing standards. As a policy, Isagenix makes every effort to use only non-GMO or GMO-free ingredients in its products. The company diligently seeks out suppliers that adhere to their own policies for avoiding GMO crops as sources for their raw materials, including any additives or processing aids.  Organic ingredients may be used when they are the best option for the quality of the product. However, organic ingredients do not always meet Isagenix quality standards. USDA-certified organic refers to crops grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, but does not ensure purity, safety, or potency, whereas the Isagenix no-compromise ingredient policy and sourcing process does.

18. I am about to start an Isagenix System. What should I expect?

Whenever you make a drastic lifestyle change, your body can go through an adjustment period. The reality is that making significant changes to your eating or lifestyle habits can lead to unwanted “side effects” in the short term. Fortunately, a smooth transition free of unwanted “side effects” can be easily attainable if you are thoughtful about how you make the transition to a healthful lifestyle.

19. Should I stop taking my medications and other supplements while I’m doing an Isagenix system?

Any treatment or medication that has been recommended by your medical doctor should be continued when you use Isagenix products. Isagenix products are intended to support health and wellness goals and cannot replace medical care. Isagenix offers food and nutritional supplements, and these products are not intended to prevent, diagnose, or treat any medical condition. As for combining other dietary supplements with an Isagenix System, it’s important to evaluate the products you already use and compare them with Isagenix products to determine if they provide the same nutrients. It is possible to consume certain nutrients in excess, particularly when you consume several products with overlapping nutritional profiles.

20. If my goal is not weight loss, is there any benefit to doing Cleanse Days?

While weight loss will always be one of the most popular reasons why people choose to do Cleanse Days, scientific research has identified many other unique benefits of intermittent fasting that are less obvious from the outside.

21. Can my active teenagers use the AMPED Line?

The AMPED™ Performance System was designed with adult athletes in mind, but there are some products that can be appropriate for younger athletes, too. For the complete list of age recommendations for each Isagenix Product, see the Allergen Table.

22. How do I know which AMPED products I should use for my workout?

Every workout is different and requires unique nutritional support throughout all three phases of training- pre-workout, during, and post-workout. If you are an endurance athlete your nutritional considerations are different from those who are focused on strength and muscle building. Other choices, such as whether to use AMPED Nitro or AMPED Power, relate to your preferences and goals more than the type of workout you have planned.

23. How does Whole Blend IsaLean Shake compare to the original IsaLean Shake?

Both Whole Blend IsaLean Shakes and the original IsaLean Shake are meal replacements that deliver balanced nutrition with 24 grams of high-quality protein, energy-fueling carbohydrates, and good fats. While the nutritional profile and benefits of the two shakes are similar, the ingredients are somewhat different.

Classic IsaLean Shake contains nutritional support from ingredients including an active enzyme blend and full spectrum of vitamins and minerals. Classic IsaLean Shakes are naturally sweetened with fructose, a low-glycemic sweetener that is found in fruit, along with stevia leaf extract.

Whole Blend IsaLean Shake has been artfully crafted from whole foods — exactly what your body needs for a balanced meal. Whole Blend Shake contains ancient ingredients such as honey, chia seeds, sweet potato, and mushrooms.

Plant-Based Whole Blend IsaLean Shake was designed to mirror the nutritional profile of the whey-based Whole Blend Shake as closely as possible while utilizing the best in plant-based nutrition. A blend of protein from fava beans, mung beans, and peas provides an amino acid profile that is similar to the amino acid profile of whey protein. Plant-based Whole Blend Shakes are a great way to add variety to your shake day.

24. How many calories should I be consuming each day?

There are plenty of methods you can use to estimate your calorie goals for weight loss, from phone apps to equations. The best methods consider factors that influence the calories your body needs each day, like your current body weight and activity level.

25. I want to avoid a specific ingredient. How do I know which Isagenix products contain it?
